At the time of Chris' passing, he was in his prime and had just won the Wyoming State Championship along with the Wyoming State Round Robin and he was ranked #1 in his weight class. Chris had his first #1 ranking in Colorado in 2008 and went on to be a dominant force in the state in 4 different weight classes for over a decade. The 176# right hand division is where Chris made his mark as he was ranked #1 for 8 years which is second all-time to Emlyn Williams. During his 20 plus year career, Chris defeated Armwrestler’s that were ranked in the top 10 in the US and North America and is on the 165# and 176# Right Colorado Mount Rushmore. Chris was born in 1975 in San Francisco, California and moved to Durango in the mid 90's. He loved white water rafting, dirt biking, and hunting and owned his own company, Boyd Carpentry. He stood 6'2", had huge hands and wrists and was a powerhouse inside and outside with his newly added toproll. In 2002 Chris started training under the guidance of Hall of Famer, Charles Hamby. Charles nicknamed him "Silent Rage" because of Chris' quiet, reserved demeaner off the table and the fact that he was an absolute beast on the table. Later, teammates Ben Bledsoe, Robert Fowler, Lee Fowler and Brett Morse were added to the group - the original Team Southern Colorado. In our sport, competition gets fierce and tempers flare and not everyone gets along all the time, but in all the years I had the privilege to know Chris, I have never heard anyone speak a bad word about him. Chris was loved and respected and he was by far one of the most popular Armwrestler’s in our sport. On February 18, 2021 we lost a great Armwrestler but we lost an even greater human being. Rest in Peace "Silent Rage" Chris Boyd.
